LogMeIn Hamachi is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) application created and written by Alex Pankratov in 2004. In 2009, Logmein acquired Hamachi from Pankratov. It is currently available on various big platforms, such as the production version for Windows and macOS, the Beta version of Linux, and a system VPN-based compatible with Android and iOS.

It connects different computers behind network address translation firewalls without requiring reconfigurations.

Many video games are played online using the Internet with your friends and buddies. However, virtual LAN gaming software aims to connect you with your friends without using the Internet and this LAN router.

When thinking of a LAN router, the first name that comes to mind is the Hamachi LAN router.

However, these routers have drawbacks; to overcome these, you need to be aware of Hamachi alternatives. The Hamachi LAN router’s main drawback is that it is not entirely free; on a free account, you can only play with up to 5 friends, including the host.

Hamachi Alternatives

Following are some alternatives to Hamachi that will help you to overcome these drawbacks-

Summary show
1. Zerotier
2. Play Hide VPN
3. Gameranger
4. Net over Net
5. Wippien
6. Parsec
7. FreeLAN
8. SoftEther
9. Radmin VPN
10. P2PVPN
11. Port Forwarding
12. Play together

1. Zerotier

Zerotier is among the best Hamachi alternatives. It can support all operating systems, including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Linux. Moreover, it is an open-source app with free Android and iOS games and apps.

Zerotier is the easiest-to-use, most advanced LAN creator, promising low ping, an easy user interface, and gaming.

Zerotier

2. Play Hide VPN

Play Hide VPN is a service developed based on an open-source VPN and does not require port forwarding. The most attractive feature of Playhide is that it does not require you to set up an account. As a result, the app is lightweight and very simple to use.

3. Gameranger

Initially, it was a project for macOS in 1999; later, it expanded to PC gaming in 2008. As a result, it is one of the most trusted Hamachi alternatives and is within easy reach of users. Gameranger’s stability and security level are unmatchable. There are very low kings and high security.

Gameranger

4. Net over Net

This simple and powerful tool enables you to connect multiple devices through the Internet. This is a type of VPN emulator that can be used for things other than gaming as well. It also gives you direct access to remote computers using this VPN emulator. It is a go-to alternative to Hamachi to create your own VPN.

Net over Net

5. Wippien

Wippien is the VPN emulator that uses the WeOnlyDo word VPN component to establish a P2P connection with each client to establish a VPN. This app is not only completely free; it is also open-source. The application works without any hassle, only with Gmail or Jabber accounts, and it does not support any other email service for registration.

6. Parsec

Parsec is also a Hamachi alternative. It has redefined how video games are played together on a LAN router. Seemingly, Parsec is everything about Arcade gaming, but there is a lot more to it. Parsec lets you develop virtual LAN gaming servers using its local co-op feature.

It uses peer-to-peer connections with NAT traversal techniques to connect different computers on the Internet. As a result, multiplayer games can be played by anyone worldwide at a significantly low lag. The firm uses its proprietary technology to allow users to play games at 60FPS across various devices.

7. FreeLAN

FreeLAN is the most well-known and least complicated application for creating a Virtual private network. This software is also completely open-source and customizable to develop a network following various topologies, such as client-server, peer-to-peer, or hybrid.

This software offers no GUI and requires configuring the FreeLAN config file to run the application manually. Guides for this can be found on any website. This project’s community is also very dynamic, so there is no chance you will ever run out of user support.

FreeLAN

8. SoftEther

SoftEther, or “Software Ethernet,” is one of the world’s most powerful and easy-to-use multi-protocol VPN software. The VPN Solution currently supports Windows, Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, and Solaris.

SoftEther is open-source and provides great features and flexibility, similar to Zerotier. The interface can be fundamental; notwithstanding, the features are very advanced.

The software uses SSL-VPN Tunneling on HTTPS to pass through NATs and firewalls and has attributes resistant to highly restricted firewalls.

9. Radmin VPN

Radmin VPN is an amazing software for creating virtual VPNs. Free Radmin VPN doesn’t limit the number of gamers, which is a great feature of this VPN. Moreover, it has a very high speed that will enable you to play your favorite games in the same manner you play on the LAN. The service provides speeds up to 100Mbps. Not to forget, it also equips you with a secure VPN tunnel.

Therefore, your connection is safe, and your privacy is secured with the best encryption. The software is straightforward to set up and manage for IT Pros and home techs. Radmin VPN is an amazing alternative to Hamachi.

10. P2PVPN

A single developer has developed P2PVPN, but it is not useless. It effectively creates a VPN. It comes with a simple interface and basic features. End-users can use the software, and it doesn’t require a central server.

It is open-source and written completely in Java to ensure compatibility with older systems.

11. Port Forwarding

Port forwarding is the next best method for stimulating virtual LAN gaming for multiple players. However, setting it up can be different for different users. Most manufacturers provide a solution within their firmware for port forwarding, but it differs from router to router. The basic procedure is to go to your router’s settings by entering 192.168.1.1/2 and head over to the port forwarding section.

Port Forwarding

12. Play together

Play Together is another distinctive platform that does not require you to forward ports like on Hamachi. It also enables you to host your server remotely free of cost. The best part is that you can host 25 servers in a single region with the help of Play Together. Moreover, it will let you create your own LAN server virtually with security and protection.
