The Philippines hosted what became billed as Asia’s largest gathering of online gaming stakeholders from Friday, with Chinese expatriate employees increasingly under the spotlight.
The three-day Phil-Asian Gaming Expo or PAGE will encompass 30,000 gaming marketers and two hundred exhibitors. It may also mark the general public debut of 1,000 online games, product solutions, and peripheral products, consistent with a declaration pronouncing the occasion. Chinese nationals have started running in the Philippines, catering to compatriots who engage in online gaming back home. This drove demand for residential and office space around POGOs or Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations websites. This also sparked a Senate investigation because of worries the Chinese expatriates have been competing with Filipinos for jobs.
Government agencies have lately agreed on guidelines for foreigners, and the Department of Finance has said they should also pay proper taxes.
According to the announcement, the PAGE occasion in Manila will allow gaming enterprise professionals to “touch base” with regulators like PAGCOR, the Bureau of Immigration, the Department of Labor and Employment, and local authorities units.
