A golf course on Vietnam’s South Central coast is using a unique technique to maintain its grounds smartly trimmed—a family of three water buffalo. The par-seventy-one Nick Faldo-designed Laguna Golf Lang Co, located between Hue and Danang, is already regarded for incorporating diverse terrains, such as tropical jungles, dunes, or rice paddies, into its award-winning 18-hollow direction.
The circle of relatives of water buffalo Tu Phat, Chi-Chi, and their calf, Bao, had been tasked with trimming the four hectares of paddy fields, contouring the third and fourth holes, and part of the remaining 9.
“I purchased the buffalo from a nearby farmer in overdue 2017,” Adam Calver, the Director of Golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co, informed Lonely Planet News. “I was searching at rice fields inside the place regarded as sheared through grazing buffalo. As I turned into the middle of increasing the fields at Laguna by using 3 hectares, I felt they would be a splendid addition to the golfing course maintenance group. They had been effective, and I’d like to have extra.”
More than simply a unique landscaping function, the rice fields produce up to 20 tons of rice a year, which is donated to local households and seniors.
Introduced to Vietnam by French colonists in the 1920s and 30s, golfing is slowly becoming more famous among local Vietnamese, now with about 10,000 regular gamers. However, it’s already touted as Asia’s fastest-growing golf vacation spot thanks to its yr-spherical warm climate and abundant sunshine. According to the R&A’s 2019 Golf Around the World record, there are seventy-eight golfing publications running in Vietnam, with other forty-three in various stages of development.
